Sisti Named NESCAC Women's Ice Hockey Player of the Week

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College sophomore Renee Sisti (Coventry, CT) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Ice Hockey Player of the Week on Monday. Sisti, a forward, had two goals and three assists in the Jeffs' two victories last week, leading them on their current three-game winning streak.

Sisti dished out two assists in the Jeffs' victory over non-conference foe St. Michael's College on Tueday, including the game-winner to classmate Leah Kaplan in the third period. The following night, Sisti had a hand in all three Amherst goals, as she assisted on the Jeffs' opening score and scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals in a 3-2 overtime win at non-conference opponent New England College. She netted a power-play goal with just 26 seconds remaining in regulation to force the extra session, and then lit the lamp in overtime for the win.

Sisti is the Jeffs' fifth-leading scorer and has already tied her career high with four goals on the year, while surpassing her career high with three assists. As a newcomer in 2002-03, she posted three timely goals - the first two coming in a 3-3 tie with NESCAC rival Connecticut College, and the third being the game-winner in a 3-1 victory over Holy Cross.

Amherst, now 6-5 (3-5 NESCAC) on the season, returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. at NESCAC foe Conn. College.
