Fifth-Seeded Jeffs End Season With 6-1 NESCAC Quarterfinal Loss at No. 4 Seed Hamilton

AMHERST, MA - The fifth-seeded Amherst College women's hockey team ended its season with a 6-1 loss at fourth-seeded Hamilton College in the NESCAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday. Hamilton sophomores Zoe Baldwin and Jane Bradley and first-year Emma Griffith each had a goal and an assist as the Continentals advanced to the NESCAC Semifinals next weekend where they will face top-seeded host Bowdoin College. Amherst first-year Rachel Simon (West Orange, NJ) netted her 14th goal of the year to prevent the shutout as the Jeffs finish the season with the best record in school history at 13-12.

The Continentals controlled the game from the start as they posted a 2-0 first-period lead behind goals from Griffith and fellow rookie Kristina Carroll. Simon pulled the Jeffs within one in the opening minute of the second frame as sophomore Renee Sisti (Coventry, CT) and junior Sarah Mason (Minneapolis, MN) dished out their 13th and sixth assists of the season, respectively. Unfortunately, Hamilton tacked on three unanswered goals in the second period, and Bradley capped the scoring with a goal in the final minutes of regulation.

Amherst goalie Lindsay Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) finished an impressive rookie campaign with 26 saves, while her Hamilton counterpart, first-year Caitlin Connelly, collected 23 saves.

Seniors Tory Serues (Cambridge, MA), Amanda Muller (Princeton, NJ), Ali White (Brookline, MA) and Elissa Landes (Potomac, MD) all finished their careers with outstanding seasons as they led Amherst to its best record in school history.
