Jeffs Drop 8-1 Loss to 10th-Ranked Williams

AMHERST, MA - The Amherst College women's ice hockey team fell 8-1 to 10th-ranked visiting NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College on Saturday, as Eph senior Molly Wasserman (Minnetonka, MN) scored four goals and dished out two assists, and fellow senior Tori Scott (Cambridge, MA) had a goal and three assists. Amherst first-year Meghan Dickoff (Minnetonka, MN) prevented the shutout with her second goal of the year, as the Jeffs fell to 3-4 (2-4 NESCAC).

The Ephs secured the lead in the first period as Wasserman scored twice, while Scott and first-year Ashley Wood (Duxbury, MA) each added a goal. Amherst senior Ali White (Brookline, MA) tallied her team-high sixth assist of the year as she fed Dickoff at the 2:58-mark in the second period for the Jeffs' lone score. Wasserman completed the hat trick with 11 minutes remaining in the second session, and tacked on a fourth score with just over four minutes left in the period. Sophomores Melissa Vandermyn (Springfield, MA) and Carrie Miller (Bemidji, MN) scored third-period goals for the Ephs, who improved to 5-2 (5-1 NESCAC).

Amherst first-year Lindsay Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) nabbed 30 saves between the pipes, while senior Fern Senior (Syosset, NY) and junior Alexa Holleran (Hanover, NH) split time in goal for Williams and had seven and 10 saves, respectively.

Amherst returns to action Friday, January 9 at 7 p.m. at NESCAC rival Bowdoin College.
