Yurosek Ties for First in Mammoths Second Place Finish at George Phinney Classic

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Morgan Yurosek '20 finished tied for first overall as the Amherst women's golf team claimed second place after 36 holes of competition at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course over the weekend. 

Yurosek was tied with Chloe Levins after day two, forcing a playoff in which both competitors parred the first hole while Levins prevailed with medalist honors after she parred #18 to Yurosek's bogey. 

First-year Janelle Jin '23 added five strokes to her day one score, shooting an 82 for a combined 159 on the weekend while India Gaume '22 matched Jin's day two score, finishing with a 160 total. 

Isabelle Ouyang '21 was the final Mammoth to contribute to the official score as she cut one stroke off yesterday's score to card an 84 (169) while Lily Worden '21 sat one stroke behind Ouyang with a 170 (87-83).

Competing as an individual, Emily Young '20 cut six strokes off her day one card to post an 81 and finish with 168 total. 

Amherst sat five strokes back from Middlebury after day one and finished six strokes back today with a score of 640 as the Panthers went on to win the tournament with a combined 634 on the weekend. 

The Mammoths will look ahead to the Williams College Fall Inivtational/NESCAC Qualifier from October 5-6 at Taconic Golf Course.
