Amherst in the Hunt, Tied for Second at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – After one day of play at the George Phinney Golf Classic at Ralph Myhre Golf Course, Amherst College is tied for second place and very much in contention, just five strokes off the lead.

The Mammoths shot a 317 on Saturday at the Par-71 course, even with Williams and trailing the host Panthers.

Senior Morgan Yurosek and first year Janelle Jin are both tied for fourth after carding 77's (+6). India Gaume '22 is just one shot off of that pace and is tied for ninth overall.

Playing as an individual, Katie Mina Lee '22 shot an 83, good for a tie for 22nd place.

Junior Isabelle Ouyang is in a tie for 29th with a Saturday score of 85, while Lily Worden '21 is two shots behind her and in a tie for 39th, a spot she shares with teammate Emily Young, also competing as an individual.

Individual Joanna Kim of Williams leads the field after an opening round 72 (+1). Chloe Levins of Middlebury (74) is second, and her teammate Katie Murphy (75) is alone in third.
