Jin Among Top Ten After First Day at The Orchards

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – First year Janelle Jin fired an opening round 76 and Amherst College sits in fourth place after Day 1 of play at the Mount Holyoke Invitational, being contested this weekend at the Orchards Golf Club.

Jin sits alone in seventh place right now, just three shots back of overall leaders Chloe Levins of Middlebury and Danielle Bambola of SUNY Cortland.

The Mammoths shot a 322 (+34) as a team and trail NYU by nine strokes for third place.

Morgan Yurosek '20 carded a 79 to tie for fourteenth place, while teammates Isabelle Ouyang '21 and Katie Mina Lee '22 (competing as an individual) were both two shots back.

Sophomore India Gaume shot an 81 and is tied for 23rd, with Lily Worden '21 a shot behind her in a tie for 26th place.

Senior Emily Young is in a tie for 47th with a Saturday score of 87.

Williams leads the tournament with three golfers shooting 75 or better. The Ephs are four strokes clear of Middlebury after an opening day 306 (+18).

Day two commences at 9:00 AM tomorrow with a shotgun start at The Orchards.
