Women's Golf Gets Back to Work at Vassar Invite

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Amherst College women's golf team started their spring season with a fifth place finish at the Vassar Invitational, played Saturday and Sunday at Casperkill Golf Course.

The Mammoths, playing in their first competition since October, were fifth in the field of twelve teams after Day 1 and maintained their position after the final day of play, while shaving six strokes off ther first round score.

Maggie Schoeller '19 was the top-scoring Mammoth, finishing in a tie for 17th after a super weekend that began with a 77 on Saturday. Schoeller shot an 82 today to finish the tournament +15 (159).

Isabelle Ouyang '21 and Katie Mina Lee '22 were a stroke away from each other, finishing 22nd and 23rd, respectively. Ouyang carded a 78 today to follow up her 84, while Lee shot 81-2-163.

Sophomore Lily Worden ended the tourney with a 79 to tie for 27th in the field of 66 golfers, while senior Katie Rosenberg improved nine strokes from her Day 1 score to card an 83 today and finish T-40. 

Next up for the Mammoths is their own Invitational, set to be played next weekend at The Ledges Golf Course in South Hadley.
