Women’s Golf Finishes Third at NYU Invitational in Final Tournament of Fall Slate

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Amherst women's golf team concluded the fall season with a third place finish at the NYU Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.

After day one, the Mammoths sat in third place by carding a 330 as a team in their first 18 holes. They were trailing Williams College and New York University heading into the second day of competition.

On day two, Amherst was able to knock 12 strokes off their first score by marking a 318 collectively on the day. The Purple & White ended at 648 as a team, which was 18 strokes behind the second place finisher (New York University). Williams College came from eight strokes behind to win the tournament by an eleven stroke margin (619).

Morgan Yurosek '20 led the Mammoth scoring in the tournament when she marked a 157 (80, 77) to tie for 5th overall. Jessica Jeong '20 and Katie Mina Lee '22 (Individual) tied for 12thon the weekend, with both players marking the same score on each day (80, 81) for a combined 161.

Kate Weiss '19 tied for 14th when she carded an 84 on day one, cutting four strokes off for a day two score of 80 (164). Lily Worden '21 rounded out the scoring for the Mammoths as she sat two strokes behind Weiss with a 166 on the weekend (86, 80). Katie Rosenberg '19 was the final Mammoth to compete as she totaled an 178 after two days (90, 88).

Isabelle Ouyang '21 competed in the individuals and placed third overall, as she posted a 78 on the first day and a 77 on the second day, for a combined 155 (+11) on the weekend.

This tournament marks the end of the fall slate for the Amherst women's golf team, who placed first in the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational and the Mount Holyoke Invitational. They also recorded a second place finish at the NESCAC Championship to contribute to their successful fall season.
