Mammoths Solidly in Third After Day 1 at NYU Invitational

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -- In the final tournament of the 2018 Fall season, Amherst College women's golf team sits in third place after Day 1 of competition at the NYU Invitational at Forest Hill Field Club.

The Mammoths shot a 330 as a team, trailing just the host Violets and Williams College, but with a 22 stroke lead over fourth place Mount Holyoke College.

Jessica Jeong '20 and Morgan Yurosek '20 are both tied for seventh overall after shooting rounds of 80. 

Katie Mina Lee '22 is also tied for seventh with an 80, two strokes behind Isabelle Ouyang '21, who shot a 78 and is alone in sixth place. Ouyang and Lee were both competing as individuals and not part of the team score for the Mammoths at this tournament.

Returning to the scoring team, Kate Weiss '19 shot an 84 (T-17), while Lily Worden '21 carded an 86 (T-19). Rounding out the team is Katie Rosenberg '19, who is tied for 26th with a first-round 90.

The final individual for Amherst, first year India Gaume, is tied for 13th after an opening-day 82.

The Mammoths will finish out play tomorrow when they return to the course at Forest Hill.
