Mammoths are Batchelder Invite Champs for Third Straight Year

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- For the third time in as many years, the Amherst College women's golf team are the champions of the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational, hosted by Wellesley College at Nehoiden Golf Course.

Amherst, who topped the six-team field by 14 strokes, also boasted the top two individual golfers, medalist Morgan Yurosek '20 and runner-up India Gaume '22.

Yurosek shot a tournament-best 70 to overtake Gaume, who co-led the tournament after a Day 1 75. Her 74 on Sunday gave her a 149 for the tournament, three strokes back of Yurosek and all alone in second place.

Isabelle Ouyang '21 carded a 76 on Day 2 to finish in a tie for seventh place for Amherst, who finished with a 611 (311-300), coming from five strokes back to beat the host Blue, who shot a 319 on Sunday for a 625 total.

With rounds of 79 and 80, Emily Young '20 finished in a tie for tenth place and Jessica Jeong '20 shot matching 81's to secure a thirteenth place tie in the 38-golfer competition.

Rounding out the tournament field was Vassar (655), Middlebury (675), Mount Holyoke (681) and Trinity College (877).

The Mammoths will stay local next weekend when they travel to South Hadley and the Orchards Golf Club for the Mount Holyoke Invitational.
