No. 9 Amherst Captures George Phinney Golf Classic Crown!

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The No. 9 Amherst College women's golf team placed five players inside the top-10 to edge host Middlebury by three strokes behind a 321-317-638 mark and clinch the George Phinney Golf Classic title, its second tournament victory of the fall, at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course this past weekend.

The Mammoths return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 7 when they close out their fall slate at the two-day Williams Fall Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club.

COURSE PAR: 71 - 6,376 yards
TOP-MAMMOTH: Isabelle Ouyang '21 (T-2nd)

Registering her highest collegiate finish, Ouyang finished tied for second at the Classic, carding a 78 on day one and a 79 on day two to finish 15-over-par (157).

Morgan Yurosek '20 was just a stroke behind Ouyang, notching back-to-back scores of 79 to record a 158 and tie for fourth overall.

Also placing inside the top-10, Zoe Wong '18 finished ninth overall with a 161 (82-79), while Jessica Jeong '20 tied for 10th place with an 82-80-162 mark. Finishing in a tie for 19th, Lily Worden '21 rounded out Mammoths competing in team play, as she posted an 87 and an 82 to card a 169.

Competing as individuals at the Classic, Katie Rosenberg '19, Emily Young '20 and Serena Lee '21 also recorded impressive performances, with the trio all finishing inside the top-25. Carding a 79-81-160, Rosenberg tied for seventh overall, while Young claimed 17th after logging a two-day score of 166 (83-83). Lee rounded out Amherst's golfers at the invitational, posting an 84-88-172 stat line to place tied for 24th.
