Women's Golf Opens Season with Third Place Finish at SLU Invitational

CANTON, N.Y. – The Amherst College women's golf team opened the 2017-18 season with a solid team performance, placing two players inside the top-15 and totaling a two-day score of 624 (307-317) to place third overall at the 12-team St. Lawrence University Invitational at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course.

TOP-MAMMOTH: Isabelle Ouyang '21 (T-10)

NYU won the 12-team event with a two-day score of 589, followed by Middlebury (312-303-615) and Amherst (307-317-624), while NYU's Patty Treevichaphan carded individual medalist honors with scores of 74 and 70 to finish two over par.

Notching scores of 74 and 79, Ouyang posted a Mammoth-best 153 to finish 11 over par for the weekend and tie for 10th overall. Morgan Yurosek '20 finished with a two-day mark of 156 (75-81) and tied for 12th overall, while Zoe Wong '18 finished 16th in the 63-golfer field after carding a day one score of 78 and a 80 on day two to finish with a total of 158.

Closing out competition +19, Jessica Jeong '20 tied for 22nd with a 161 mark (80-81), while Emily Young '20 carded an 85 and 77 (162) to tie for 25th and round out Amherst's scoring golfers.

Amherst returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 16 when they travel to host Wellesley College for the two-day Ann S. Batchelder Invitational.
