AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College women's golf team shaved 20 strokes off its day one score to finish with a combined score of 628 to place third at the Jack Leaman Invitational at Hickory Ridge Golf Club Sunday afternoon.
New York University, which held first place after day one with a score of 310 on Saturday, registered a round of 300 on Sunday to secure first place honors with an overall score of 610. Williams College (316-300-616) finished in second, while Amherst placed third (324-304-628). Ithaca College (336-323-659) and Mount Holyoke College (340-324-664) rounded out the top five teams in the 11-squad field.
Individual medalist honors went to NYU's Jennifer Bluetling who shot a two-under-par 72 and finished with two-day total of 146. Williams' Cordelia Chan finished in second with a round of 72 on Sunday en route to a two-day total of 147.
Amherst was led by Morgan Yurosek '20 who shot a combined 152 with a stellar one-under-par 73 on Sunday and placed fourth overall. Jamie Gracie '17 (79-77-156) and Emily Young '20 (83-76-159) finished 10th and tied for 11th respectively, while Jessica Jeong '20 and Kate Weiss '19 each carded two-day scores of 161 with identical first and second rounds of 83 and 78 to tie for 17th overall in the field of 69 golfers.
The Mammoths return to action Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23 at the Williams Spring Invitational.
