SUFFERN, N.Y. – The Amherst College women's golf team carded a two-day, 36-hole team score of 642 (315-327) to finish fourth overall at the NYU Fall Invitational this weekend at the Spook Rock Golf Course, hosted by NYU.
The Purple & White finished fourth overall in the 12-team field to open their 2015-16 campaign. Williams won the invitational with a team score of 614 (304-310) followed by NYU in second (621-312-309) and Randolph-Macon in third (638-324-314).
Leading the way for Amherst, in her first tournament of her collegiate career, was first-year Kate Weiss. Weiss had an incredible day one, in which she shot a 73. She followed that up today with an 83 to finish with a 36-hole score of 156, tied for eighth overall.
Zoe Wong '18 finished second on the squad, and tied for 13th overall, after carding a two-day mark of 159 (80-79), and Katie Rosenberg '19 placed third on the team and tied for 19th in the field with a 162 (82-80).
The Purple & White return to the course next Saturday, Sept. 26 for the two-day, 36-hole Mount Holyoke College Invitational.
