Jeffs Finish Fifth at NYU Invitational

SUFFERN, N.Y. – Amherst's Jamie Gracie '17 carded a two-day score of 154 (79-75) and finished fifth overall as the Jeffs placed fifth overall at the NYU Invitational at Spook Rock Golf Course.

Host NYU led the 12-team field with a combined score of 620, followed by Mount Holyoke (639) and Middlebury (641) rounding out the top three.

Randolph-Macon's finished two-under-par with an overall score (142) with rounds of 72 and 70. Middlebury's Michelle Peng was second (146-75-71), while NYU's Phoebe Zhao (152-79-73) and Alyssa Poentis (153-80-73) came in third and fourth respectively.

Gracie continued her stellar play from a year ago shooting a combined 10 strokes over par and shaved four strokes off her day one 79 en route to a 75, while Zoe Wong '18 was impressive in her collegiate debut with a round a two-day total of 158 (78-80) to place tied for 10th overall in the field of 63 golfers.

Angelina Guan '17 (178-89-89), CJ Bernstein '15 (179-85-94) and Katherine Britt '15 (183-95-88) rounded out the Purple & White's scoring players in its season opening tournament.

Amherst is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the two-day Mount Holyoke Invitational .
