Jeffs Second at Wellesley Invitational

WELLESLEY, MA - The Amherst College women's golf team took second place at the 2004 Wellesley Spring Golf Invitational, held at the Neihoden Golf Course in Wellesley, Massachusetts on Saturday and Sunday. Junior captain Meg Sullivan (Northampton, MA) shot a two-day score of 91-84-175, while senior Kathryn Kuchefski (Wellesley, MA) finished just behind her, shooting 92-84-176, good for fourth and fifth places, respectively. 

First-year Sarah Harper (Rochester, MN) also cracked the top ten, finishing in eighth place with a round of 89-93-182. Sophomore Melissa Sidman (Bethesda, MD) and senior Kasarin Chakkaphak (London, England) rounded out the top scorers for the Jeffs as Sidman tied for 16th, shooting a 105-92-197, and Chakkaphak's 101-101-202 earned her 18th. 

Amherst's two-day total of 373-353-726 was just 12 strokes back of first-place host Wellesley College, which claimed its first tournament win in school history. Wellesley sophomore Susan Choi took home the individual crown with her round of 83-79-162. 

Amherst returns to action Friday at the Massachusetts State Championships, at the Orchards Golf Club in S. Hadley, Massachusetts.
