Jeffs Third at Bryant Invitational

September 22, 2002

SMITHFIELD, RI - Senior co-captain Katie Gravel (New Hampton, NY) paced the Amherst women's golf team at this weekend's Bryant Women's Invitational. Gravel's 85-85-170 put her in a three-way tie for eighth place in the individual standings, solidifying the Jeffs' overall third-place finish behind second-place Fairfield University and standings leader Florida Gulf Coast University.

Amherst sophomores Emily Foran (Dallas, PA) and Meg Sullivan (Northampton, MA) trailed Gravel with respective 89-85-174 and 87-87-174 16th-place showings. The third factor in a strong sophomore class, Sarah Godwin (Swarthmore, PA) came through with a 28th-place finish via a 96-88-184 weekend. Senior co-captain Jeannie Limpert (Washington, DC) posted a 104-86-190 mark, and first-year Melissa Sidman (Bethesda, MD) rounded out the scoring with a 107-99-206.

The squad will split up next weekend, sending delegates to Williams College for the NESCAC Tournament and to nearby Mount Holyoke College for the Mount Holyoke College Invitational.
