Eck Tabbed as Academic All-American by CoSIDA

AUSTIN, Texas – Amherst College women's basketball senior Madeline Eck has been named to the 2019-2020 Academic All-America NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Third Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as announced by the organization on Wednesday.

The Academic All-America team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Eck, who was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, makes her first appearance on the Academic All-America ballot and becomes the 38th Amherst College student-athlete to earn the prestigious distinction since the honor was introduced in 1952.

An Economics and Psychology double major, Eck maintains a GPA of 3.85 and has been a mainstay in the Mammoths' lineup across her four-years donning the Purple & White. In addition to totaling 638 career rebounds, Eck will go down in the Amherst record book as one of only two players in program history to reach the 1,500-point threshold during their time in the Pioneer Valley.

Tying for seventh all-time in games played at Amherst (122), the Rye, N.Y. native finishes the 2019-2020 season as the team's leader in assists per game (2.3) and ranks second on the team in scoring (14.4 PPG) and rebounding (6.0 rebounds/game).

Eck scored over 20 points on five occasions during the regular season, including a season-high 24 points in the Mammoths' 62-51 win over archrival Williams on January 11th. Starting all 28 contests this winter, Eck scored in double-figures in all but six matchups on the year.

A native of Rye, N.Y., Eck averaged 32.1 minutes per game and closes out her senior campaign having shot 44.3% from the floor, 40.4% from downtown, and 73.2% from the charity stripe.
