HADLEY, Mass. -- After her performance in the championship weekend of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball tournament, Amherst sophomore Madeline Eck has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week.
Eck led the way for the Mammoths as they captured their third consecutive NESCAC crown with a semifinal win over Wesleyan and a championship game win over Tufts.
She shot 50% from the field and averaging 14.5 points over two games, including a 17-point performance in the championship game over Tufts. Against the Jumbos, Eck shot 5-9 from the floor and 2-2 from behind the three-point line. She sank a pair of free throws in the final minute to put the Mammoths ahead by four points and ice away the game. Eck also averaged three assists and 5.5 rebounds per game.
The Mammoths will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division 3 tournament next Friday and Saturday at LeFrak Gymnasium. More information including pairings, times and ticket information will be available shortly on athletics.amherst.edu.
