HADLEY, Mass. -- Amherst sophomore Hannah Fox was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon for the second time this season.
Fox and the Mammoths are in the midst of a 20-0 season, including a NESCAC record that reached 6-0 on Saturday when they defeated No. 4 Bowdoin College, who came into LeFrak Gymnasium also undefeated.
In that battle of Top-5 powers, Fox scored 14 points, including seven of them in the fourth quarter as Amherst held on for a 49-45 victory. Fox scored the first seven points of the quarter, putting Amherst ahead 43-42 with a three-pointer with just 3:44 to play. She ended the game with six rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal.
The week also included a nine-point, five rebound and four assist performance on Friday evening as Fox and the Mammoths defeated Colby College 46-37.
Fox and the No. 1 ranked Mammoths will be back home for another NESCAC doubleheader this weekend. The action starts at 7:00 pm Friday night with a rematch of last year's National Championship game as Tufts University comes to town. On Saturday at 3:00 pm, the Mammoths will honor their Seniors before a game against Bates College.
