Balanced Attack Lifts No. 2/2 Women’s Basketball Past Colby, 69-43

WATERVILLE, Maine – The No. 2/2 Amherst College women's basketball used a game-high 13-point effort from Madeline Eck '20 off the bench, while all five starters scored seven or more points to help lift the Purple & White to a 69-43 victory over NESCAC foe Colby College in Saturday afternoon's contest at Wadsworth Gymnasium in Waterville, Maine.

With the win, Amherst improves to 17-0 on the season, 5-0 in NESCAC action, while Colby moves to 8-8 overall, 2-3 in league action. The Purple & White return to action Monday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. when they host Lehman College at LeFrak Gymnasium.

Eck was 6-for-11 from the field, had six rebounds, and two assists. Hannah Hackley '18 was 4-for-6 from the field on the way to 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Amherst starters Jaimie Renner '17, Meredith Doswell '17, Emma McCarthy '18, and Ali Doswell '17 all had seven points. Renner was 2-for-2 from the field, 2-of-2 from the foul line, dished five assists, and notched three steals.

MK Caverly had a team-high 11 points on 5-for-8 shooting and had three assists for the Mules. Emily Davis added nine points and five rebounds, while Haley Driscoll finished with eight points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

Colby shot 63.6% (7-for-11) from the field in the first quarter, but still trailed 24-16 after 10 minutes. The Purple & White held the Mules to just four field goals in the second and third quarters in taking a 41-23 lead at halftime and a 59-30 margin after three quarters.

Amherst had a 38-28 rebounding advantage and had assists on 22 of its 27 made field goals.
