AMHERST, Mass. – Amherst College junior softball pitcher Gina Pagan was named a 2017 Fastpitch News NCAA Division III Second Team All-American as recently announced by the organization.
Pagan was terrific in the circle for Amherst all season, notching a 23-6 overall record. She made 25 starts in 31 appearances and totaled 14 complete games en route to 170.1 innings pitched. She allowed 62 runs (45 earned) on 125 hits and struck out 177 batters en route to a 1.85 ERA and NESCAC Pitcher of the Year honors.
Also a First Team All-NESCAC selection, Pagan was named First Team All-New England Region by the NFCA, and was the Most Outstanding Pitcher of the Springfield and Amherst Regional and Super Regional tournaments during the Mammoths' NCAA Division III Championship run. Pagan started all eight of the Purple & White's NCAA postseason games and finished with a record of 6-2 in the national postseason.
The 2017 season was a historic one for Amherst which clinched the program's first-ever Regional and Super Regional titles and a spot in the program's first-ever NCAA Championship. The Mammoths finished the season 34-12 overall, just two wins shy of the team's single-season record for wins (36) which was set in 2012.
Pagan was the only NESCAC player to be recognized on the FPN NCAA Division III All-America teams.
