No. 12 Amherst Sweeps Individual Medalist Honors, Wins Smith Invite

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Capturing the team title and sweeping the individual top-three, the No. 12 Amherst College men's cross country team opened 2017 on a high note at the Smith College Invitational Saturday afternoon.

TOP-MAMMOTH: Clark Ricciardelli '20 (16:13.8, 1st)

MAMMOTHS SCORING RUNNERS

  • Registering an average mile time of 5:13.3, Ricciardelli paced the invitational, taking the meets' individual crown with a 16:13.8 mark.
  • Next to cross the finish line, Tucker Meijer '19 finished in 16:18.1 to place second, while Spencer Ferguson-Dryden '20 finished third overall with a time of 16:24.8.
    Rounding out Amherst's scoring runners were seniors Jack Wesley '18 and Justin Barry '18 with the duo finishing .04 seconds apart with times of 16:50.5 and 16:50.9, respectively, to land in fifth and sixth place.

The Mammoths return to the trails on Saturday, Sept. 23 when they travel to archrival Williams for the annual Purple Valley Classic.
