NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In this weekend's Open New England Championships, the Amherst men's track and field team faced teams across all three divisions with Troy Colleran '22 setting multi-best marks in seven out of the 10 events and finishing with 6358 points over the weekend.
Next up, the Mammoths will travel to Williamstown, Massachusetts on May 15 for the Williams Final Qualifier.
- Ryan Prenosil '21 wasted no time in his 400m race by splitting 22.7 for the 200m and finished 6th overall with a new personal best of 48.73, placing him in the finals on Saturday. First-year Henry Buren '22 followed suit with a personal best of 21.72 (6th). Both men ran strong times in their Saturday finals when Prenosil finished 7th in a time of 48.95 while Buren placed 8th (21.84).
- Jumping up in distance that evening Amherst saw Senior Cosmo Brossy '19 tackle the 5000m run where he placed 7thoverall in a season best of 14:55.68. Teammate Braxton Schuldt '21 competed in the 10,000m run not long afterwards. Also placing in scoring position by finishing 6thoverall Schuldt ran just off his personal best with a time of 32.23.97.
- In the middle distance events the Mammoths had Junior Spencer Ferguson-Dryden '20 competing in the 1500m run where he pushed the pace early on, splitting 2:03 at the 800m mark. Ferguson-Dryden finished with his second-best mark with a 3:56.93 time. Senior Kristian Sogaard '19 took to the track for his 800m race not long after, battling to the finish and crossing the line in 1:55.53.
- Colleran produced a strong decathlon performance, setting multi-best in 7 of the 10 events. Bettering his marks in Shot Put (10.57m), Javelin (39.19m), 110H (16.48), High Jump (1.99m), Discus Throw (33.13m), Pole Vault (3.95m), 1500m (5:04.14) and the 400m dash (51.91). His points totaled 6358, placing him 4thoverall at the meet and second all-time in Amherst history.
