MEDFORD, Mass. – The Amherst College men's track & field team wrapped up the indoor regular season Saturday, competing at the Tufts Last Chance meet at the Gantcher Center with bids for nationals on the line.
Amherst returns to action next weekend, March 8-9, when qualifying individuals compete at the two-day 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass.
- Leading off the day was the Men's Distance Medley Relay which needed a fast time of under 10:06 if they wanted to qualify for the national meet. Spencer Ferguson-Dryden '20 took the early lead during the 1200m leg and battled hard to keep the team on pace. Both Ryan Prenosil '21 and Ralph Skinner '21 held their own by keeping Amherst in the lead pack of runners. Senior Cosmo Brossy anchored the relay with a strong closing mile which allowed them to finish fourth overall with a time of 10:00.14. Good enough to rank them seventh in the DIII going into next week's national meet.
- Senior Kristian Sogaard had some work to do in the 800m to solidify a spot on the national board's top-20. With a final kick, down the last 100 meters Sogaard came from the back of the pack to finish second overall with a time of 1:53.76, and placing him 12th in the nation.
