Ricciardelli Named Google Cloud Academic All-American by CoSIDA

AUSTIN, Texas – Sophomore harrier Clark Ricciardelli of the Amherst College men's cross country and track & field teams has been selected to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-American Men's Track/Cross Country Second Team, as voted on by CoSIDA, for his combined performance on the playing field and in the classroom, as announced by the organization Tuesday.

Ricciardelli, previously named Academic First Team All-District, is the 35th Academic All-America selection in Amherst College history, and first-ever sophomore selection. He is the fourth member of the cross country and track & field teams to earn the noteworthy honor joining Romey Sklar '15 (Third Team, 2015), Andrew Erskine '13 (Third Team, 2013) and Ben Scheetz '12 (First Team, 2012).

A Mathematics major with a 4.04 grade point average, Ricciardelli has excelled on the courses and tracks across New England in his first two seasons for the Mammoths, specializing in the 8K for the cross country team and in the 10,000 meter race as a member of track & field.

In a breakout sophomore season, the Hingham, Mass. native landed First Team All-NESCAC laurels in cross county after posting a fourth place finish (25:20.5) at the annual conference meet before garnering a cross country All-America nod after taking 33rd at the NCAA Championships with a time of 24:54.48.

Moving into the winter and spring, Ricciardelli continued to impress, notching a second place finish in the 10,000 meter race at the NESCAC Championships to earn All-NESCAC track & field accolades before crossing the finish line in 31:06.21 at the Outdoor NCAA Championships to earn eighth overall in the event and USTFCCCA All-America honors.

Outside of his work at Amherst, Ricciardelli has interned with FoxRock Properties LLC with a focus in property development, acquisition, leasing, and management and helped developed a system for indoor vegetable growth for charity.

Joining Max Steinhorn '18 (baseball), Ricciardelli is Amherst's second Academic All-America selection this spring and one of just three NESCAC cross country and track & field student-athletes to claim the prestigious award.
