Five Individuals, One Relay Team Garner Men's Track & Field All-NESCAC Honors

HADLEY, Mass. – Five individuals and one relay squad garnered All-Conference honors following the Amherst College men's track & field team's sixth place finish at the 2018 NESCAC Championships, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

The top-three finishers from each event during this past weekend's conference meet earn All-NESCAC recognition, with 54 individuals and nine relay quartets claiming the honor.  

Successfully defending his 800 meter NESCAC crown, Kristian Sogaard secured the league's top time for the second consecutive season by edging out the second place finisher by less than a second with a time of 1:50.95. Sogaard's winning mark a season ago as 1:51.94.

The Mammoths' other gold medal of the Championship came in the 4x800 relay, with the combo of Ermias Kebede '19, Jacob Silverman '19, Ralph Skinner '20 and Sogaard crossing the finish line in 7:46.76 to power past the second place quartet from Bowdoin (7:46.83).

Clocking a 15:03.85 mark in the 5,000-meter run, Cosmo Brossy '19 took second overall to earn his first All-Conference nod, while Clark Ricciardelli '20 impressed in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 30:37.37 to earn silver.

Vernon Espinoza '19 was the final Amherst harrier to land in the top-three on the track, placing third overall in the 400 meter dash with a 48.67 second mark.

Rounding out the Mammoths' All-Conference performances and the lone Amherst All-League performer in field events, Jordan Edwards beat his season high mark of 13.85 meters in the triple jump to post a distance of 14.02 meters and claim second overall.
