TROY, N.Y. – The Amherst College men's outdoor track and field team competed at the 2014 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships in a two-day meet hosted by RPI.
Amherst finished 35th overall with seven points and grabbed four top-15 finishes. Oneonta won the championship with 63 points followed by Bates with 60. RPI and MIT both recorded 46 points to finish in a tie for third while Brockport State took fifth overall with 45.
Leading the way for the Jeffs were sophomore Dan Crowley and first-year Raymond Meijer. Crowley recorded the best finish of the day for the Purple & White, claiming fifth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:11.74. Meijer took sixth overall in the 10,000 meter run when he crossed the finish line in 32.28.93. Shortly after, teammate KC Fussell '15 placed with a mark of 33:13.62 to grab 10th.
In other track events, Romey Sklar '15 and Kevin Connors '17 finished seconds apart from each other in the 1,500 meter run. Sklar placed 14th overall in 4:04.43 while Connors took 16th with a time of 4:06.03.
The NCAA Division III Championships begin next weekend with a three-day event hosted by Ohio Wesleyan starting Thursday, May 22.
