MEDFORD, Mass. - Behind several strong performances, the Amherst men's outdoor track & field team placed sixth at the 2013 NESCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Tufts University.
Matt Melton '14 placed third in the 400m dash with a time of 49.12, while Pat Grimes '13 took third in the 1500m run (3:54.96). Andrew Erskine '13 also recorded a third-place finish in the 10,000-meter run, clocking in at 31:13.31, while KC Fussell '15 took sixth with a time of 31:56.37.
Brent Harrison '16 finished ninth in the 800m run (1:55.05), while Greg Turissini '15 recorded a top-10 showing in the 3000m steeplechase (9:42.28). Finishing four seconds behind his teammate's pace, Dillon Buckley '13 took 11th (9:46.77).
In the field events, Joseph Terrell-Perica '15 placed fourth in both the discus (43.17m) and javelin (53.08m). Denzel Duncan '13 finished ninth in the shot put (13.43m) and hammer throw (46.94m), while Mark Cort '15 was ninth in the triple jump (12.71m).
Host Tufts took the team title with 213 points, followed by Bates (166), Middlebury (140), Williams (108) and Bowdoin (57) in the top five. Amherst came in sixth with 36 points, with Colby (33) and Wesleyan (24) finishing seventh and eighth, respectively. Conn. College (20) took ninth, with Hamilton (15) and Trinity (7) rounding out the field of 11.
