Scheetz Sets Pace at ECAC Outdoor Championships

BETHLEHEM, PA – Junior Ben Scheetz (Lancaster, PA) placed first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.79 to lead the Amherst men's track and field team to a 17th-place finish at the 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.

Scheetz would also team-up with senior Tommy Moore (Marlborough, MA), junior Andrew Reed (Riverside, CT) and first-year Matt Melton (Wall, NJ) on the Lord Jeffs fourth-place 4x400 relay team that crossed the tape with a time of 3:15.29, while senior Andrew Erskine (Stamford, CT) finished sixth in the 5000-meter run, clocking in at 14:52.26.

Fellow senior John McGrail (Arlington, VA) came in 20th in the 5k, while sophomore Pat Grimes (Mansfield, MA) placed ninth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:55.29. Junior Melissa Sullivan (Dallas, TX) was Amherst's lone competitor on the women's side, placing fourth in the 1500 (4:33.36).
