Dan Murner Named NESCAC Performer of the Week

AMHERST, MA – Amherst College junior Dan Murner (Crestwood, KY) has been named the NESCAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for winning the 10,000-meter run in a time of 14:39.92 at this past weekend's University of Massachusetts Invitational.

Fresh off an impressive indoor season that saw him just barely miss qualifying for the NCAA Championships, Murner began his outdoor season by winning the 10,000-meter run at Trinity College's Bantam Invitational. His time of 32:17.49 was more than 42 seconds faster than the runner-up and was a 25-second improvement from his time of 32:42.65 that earned him second place at last year's Bantam Invite.

Amherst's second meet of the outdoor season saw Murner place second in the Spring College Invitational 1,500-meter run at 4:09.11. In his 10k win at the UMass Invite, Murner led a field of runners that included several Division I athletes. His time left him nearly four seconds ahead of runner-up Jonathan Pierce of UMass and the Williams College duo of Mack Chaffee and Brendan Christian.

The Lord Jeffs return to action Friday, Apr. 17 when select runners will head to Princeton University for the Larry Ellis Invite, while the rest of the team will compete in the Little Three Championships at Wesleyan University. At last year's Little Three Championships, Murner tied for sixth place in the 5k with a time of 16:03.10.
