  • Amherst Earns Three Top-10 Finishes at NCAA Outdoor Track Championships

    Amherst College sent four student-athletes to the 2008 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which took place on J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Competition at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh kicked off Thursday, May 22 and concluded this afternoon, with the Lord Jeffs earning a trio of top-10 finishes.

  • Heather Wilson Wins 10,000-meter Run to Lead Jeffs at Open New Englands

    The Amherst College outdoor track and field teams competed against schools from Division I, II and III at the Open New England Championships, but senior Heather Wilson was still able to dominate the 10,000-meter Run. The Amherst women tied for ninth place thanks in large part to Wilson, who won the 10k with a time of 35:41.28, finishing more than 52 seconds ahead the runner up from Boston College.

    The Amherst College outdoor track and field teams placed first in six events at the 2008 Division III New England Championships held at the United States Coast Guard Academy, as the Lord Jeff men placed 11th in a field of 26 teams and the women placed second in a field of 28. Amherst dominated the women’s distance events, finishing first in the 5k, 10k and Steeplechase events.
  • Amherst Places 10 on NESCAC Outdoor Track All-Conference Team

    Following the completion of the 2008 NESCAC Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Championships, the league has announced the 2008 NESCAC All-Conference Team. The top three finishers in each event during the championship, hosted by Hamilton College on Apr. 26, receive All-Conference recognition, with 10 members of the Amherst College teams claiming the honor this year.

Williams College has won the last seven NESCAC Women’s Track & Field titles and 15 overall, while the Men’s Track & Field crown was shared for the first time in championship history by the Ephs and Tufts University last April.
