Garrahan, Page Lead Jeffs at Trinity College Bantam Invitational

HARTFORD, CT - First-year All-America Shauneen Garrahan (Fairfax Station, VA) captured first place in the 5,000-meter run, and junior All-America Mike Page (Fargo, ND) placed second in the same event on the men's side, to lead the Amherst College men's and women's outdoor track teams at the Bantam Invite, held at Trinity College on Saturday. 

Garrahan was one of four Amherst runners to place in the top ten in the women's 5k, as junior All-America Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA), senior Aly Venti (Newton, MA), and sophomore Margaret Davis (Richmond, VA) finished second, sixth, and eighth, respectively. Hamill's second-place finish completed a grueling day for the two-time indoor 5k national champion, as she also finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run. Junior Alison Rodriguez (Albany, NY) grabbed second place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while classmate Lee-Jay Henry (Springfield, MA) took home a pair of third-place finishes in the long jump and the triple jump. Sophomore All-Americas Ginger Polich (Ironwood, MI) and Lyndsey Scott (West Orange, NJ) placed fifth and seventh in the 800-meter run and the 200-meter dash, respectively. Fellow sophomore Kristine Morin (Litchfield, NH) nabbed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles and classmate Julia Rucker (Minneapolis, MN) also finished sixth in the 400-meter dash. Morin, Polich, Rucker, and Scott captured second place in the 4x400-meter relay. 

For the men, Page led three additional Amherst runners to top-ten finishes in the 5,000-meter run as well. Junior All-America David Molina (Cleveland, OH), senior John Stanton-Geddes (Glendale, MO), and sophomore David Schreiner (Manhattan Beach, CA) finished seventh, eight, and 10th, respectively. Senior Andrew Schneider (Saratoga Springs, NY) captured fourth place in the 800-meter run, while first-year John Babbott (Ojai, CA) finished eighth in the same event. Senior Janak Chandrasoma (Pasadena, CA) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash, and first-year Sam Hayman (Evanston, IL) took home eighth place in the 400-meter dash. Sophomores Nick Canevari (Warwick, NY) and LJ Spinnato (Madison, CT) placed seventh in the discus and the hammer throw, respectively, while Chandrasoma, first-year Jon Ettinger (Chevy Chase, MD), Hayman, and sophomore Tim Porter (Newton, MA) placed second in the 4x400-meter relay. 

Both squads return to action this Saturday at the Williams Relays, held at Williams College.
