Pair of Doubles Teams Reach ITA Quarterfinals

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Two pairs from the Amherst College men's tennis team reached the quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon as the Mammoths concluded their play at the 2019 ITA Northeast Invitational, hosted by Colby College.

Marek Michulka '23 and Damien Ruparel '22 were 8-4 winners in their first match of the morning, defeating Stanley Morris and Aidan Harris of Middlebury.

At the same time, Sean Wei '21 and Harris Foulkes '22 topped the pair of Ethan Berhstein and Niko Hereford from Tufts 8-0.

Kevin Ma '21 and Shaw Rhinelander '23 saw their tournament run come to an end with an 8-3 loss at the hands of David Aizenberg and Anupreeth Coramutla from Brandeis.

Both advancing Amherst duos would fall in their next match of the morning, ending their tournaments in the quarterfinals.

Wei and Foulkes were bested by Arutro Kam and Ananth Raghavan of Williams, 8-1, while Ruparel and Michulka also bowed out to a pair of Ephs, 8-7 (4) against Alex Taylor and Peter Frelinghuysen.

The Mammoths will take a few weeks off before heading to Middletown, Conn. for the Wesleyan Invitational, October 19th-20th.
