In Flight A, Kevin Ma '21 won his first match of the day when he took on Oscar Yang of Bowdoin (6-3, 6-0), sending him into the finals. He was set to take on Scott Altmeyer where he fell in three sets by a score of 6-3, 5-7, 10-5.
Bessette failed to lose a set through his first two matches, taking down his opponents 6-2, 6-3 and then 6-3, 6-2 to push him into today's semifinals. Bessette took on Jeff Chen in Flight B, where he won in a tough battle 4-6, 7-6(6), 10-6. He then faced Jack McClaren of Skidmore College who was coming off a win against Jayson Fung '20 in the semifinals (7-6, 6-3). Bessette went on to take down McClaren, for the Championship, by a 6-2, 6-2 mark.
In Flight C, Harris Foulkes '22 and Damien Ruparel '22 both fell in their semifinal appearance after three sets. Foulkes was defeated by the eventual champion, Alan Delman of Bowdoin by a score of 4-6, 7-5, 10-8. Ruparel was able to win the first set 6-2, but then dropped the next two 4-6, 8-10 against Jack Moldenhauer.
In Flight D, Jesse Levitin '19 and William Turchetta '22 took down their semifinal opponents to place them both in the finals against each other. Levitin defeated Luke Carstens of Bowdoin 3-6, 7-5, 10-7 while Turchetta beat Tristan Young 6-2, 6-3. It came down to a Mammoth matchup in the end with Turchetta prevailing by a score of 6-3, 4-6, 10-6.
Turchetta did not lose a set in his first two matches yesterday as he took down Albert Ortega Campos of Wheaton 6-0, 6-2 before posting a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Ross Kamin of Tufts to put him into the semifinals today.
In Flight A, the Duo of Sean Wei '21 and Bessette were able to notch a 8-4 victory against Tufts Niko Hereford and Carl Grant in the semifinals to propel them into the finals. Wei and Bessette took on Jeff Chen and Tyler Ng of Brandeis in the championship where they fell 8-5.
In Flight B, Levitin and Ma were also able to record a victory in their first match of the day, winning 8-3 against Ross Kamin and Paris Pentousis of Tufts which put them in the finals. Levitin and Ma went up against Justin Patel and Oscar Yang of Bowdoin where they by a grueling 8-7(4) decision.
The Mammoths will return to action next weekend (October 12th-14th) where they attend the Tufts / Brandeis Invite to conclude their fall slate.
