Wei to Compete for ITA Title on Sunday

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- No. 2 seed Sean Wei '21 was the last Mammoth standing in the entire tournament after a strong day two and will face off tomorrow morning in the semifinals for the singles draw.

Wei, who was in the national semifinals last season, refused to give up a set on day two as he battled to secure a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Oscar Yang of Bowdoin in his first match before taking down Tyler Barr of MIT 6-1, 7-5 in the Quarterfinals.

No. 5 seed Kevin Ma '21 faced off against Nate Eazor of Middlebury in his first match today where he was able to battle back after a first set loss (4-6) to win 6-2, 6-2. He then went up against Jerry Jiang of Bowdoin who took the win by a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 mark.

In the doubles draw, No. 1 seed Zach Bessette and Jayson Fung served up at 9:00 AM against Adrian Roji and Noah Lilienthal of Wesleyan where they notched an 8-6 victory. Bessette and Fung moved onto the quarterfinals where they were taken down by Williams Alex Taylor and Peter Frelinghuysen in a hard fought battle by a score of 9-8(3).

William Turchetta '22 and Damien Ruparel '22 saw an early exit in the second day of competition as they lost to Noah Farrell and Peter Martin of Middlebury College 8-3.
