CLAREMONT, Calif.-- Amherst College first year Sean Wei is into the quarterfinals of the 2018 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Tournament after a pair of wins on Thursday at Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
Wei, ranked #7 in the draw, defeated his first round opponent, Nicolas Chua of Chicago in three sets, coming from a set down to claim a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory.
In the afternoon session, Wei topped Leo Vithoontien in straight sets (7-5, 7-6 (3)) to advance past the Round of 16 and into the second day of competition.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will both be played on Friday, starting on at 12:00 PM EST when Wei faces Jonathan Jemison of Emory. Jemison upset #2 seed and defending national champion Lubomir Cuba of Middlebury in the Round of 32.
