2018 NCAA Men's Tennis Preview: Amherst Lands in Williamstown Bracket

Amherst, Mass. – The eighth-ranked Amherst College men's tennis team earned an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship and will travel to Williams College for the First, Second and Third Rounds this weekend, May 11-13. 

The Mammoths earned a First Round bye and will face the winner of Nichols and Baruch in Second Round action on May 12. Williams also garnered a First Round bye and will square off against either Goucher or Messiah.

SCOUTING AMHERST
(11-6 overall, NR: 8th) – Schedule/Roster/Stats
The Mammoths secured an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship and will be making the program's 19th appearance in the national postseason. Amherst has done very well in the postseason, including national championships in 2011 and 2014. Amherst garnered a First Round bye for the 14th time in program history and will aim to advance to the Quarterfinals for the ninth time in the last ten seasons.

SCOUTING Nichols 
(19-3 overall) – Schedule/Roster/Stats
The Bison punched their ticket to the NCAA postseason for the seventh straight season. Nichols has already tied their 2017 win total and is two wins away from the program record of 21 set back in 2014. Nichols is 0-5 against NESCAC teams but will have to face Baruch before the winner of that match plays Amherst. This will be the first time Nichols and Baruch have ever faced each other in a tennis contest.

SCOUTING Baruch

The Bearcats find themselevs in the NCAA Tournament after winning the CUNYAC Championship 5-2 over Hunter College. This marks the second season in a row Baruch has won the CUNYAC. Last season, Baruch lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament but will be looking for a better result come this weekend.
