MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Down 2-1 following doubles action, the No. 7 Amherst College men's tennis team rallied to post four singles victories as the Mammoths battled back to edge Little III rival and No. 13 Wesleyan University, 5-4 Saturday afternoon a the John Wood Memorial Tennis Courts.
With the win, Amherst climbs to 10-3 on the season, while Wesleyan falls to 6-6 overall. Amherst returns to the courts tomorrow, Sunday, April 22 when they travel to Hamilton for a 2 p.m. matchup.
Bessette continued to roll in singles play, earning a hard fought, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Tiago Eusebio in the third position. Jayson Fung '20 added a win on the fourth court, downing Cam Daniels, 6-3, 7-6, while Jesse Levitin '19 powered past Roji, 6-0, 0-6, 6-3 in the fifth spot. Jon Heidenberg '19 secured the Mammoths win, defeating Princeton Carter in two sets, 7-5, 6-3 on the sixth court.
