No. 1 Emory Too Much for No. 7 Mammoths Men's Tennis

Amherst, Mass.- The No. 7 Amherst College men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat in a non conference matchup vs No. 1 Emory University on Friday afternoon at Ludlow Tennis Club.

Sean Wei '21 won at 1st singles 6-3, 7-6 for the Mammoths, but that was the only point they could take from the top team in the nation.

Wei and Jayson Fung '20 lost first doubles 8-5 to Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding in the closest of the three doubles matches.

Cameron Raglin '20 and Kevin Ma '21 fell 8-3 to Adrien Bouchet and Max Renke, while Emory (14-2) got a shutout from Jonathan Jemison and Hayden Cassone at third doubles.

Fung pushed 3rd singles to three sets but eventually lost to Alec Josepher 6-4, 3-6, 6-0.

Jesse Levitin '19 also went three sets but dropped 4th singles to Adrien Bouchet 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.

Andrew Harrington topped Jon Heidenberg '19 by matching 6-1 scores at #5, while Cassone and Rubinstein were also straight set singles victors.

The Mammoths are 9-3 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. Amherst wil look to bounce back at Wesleyan on Saturday and Hamilton on Sunday.
