No. 8 Amherst Defeats Skidmore, 6-3

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The eighth-ranked Amherst College men's tennis team claimed five singles victories to help lift the Purple & White to a 6-3 win over No. 31 Skidmore College Sunday afternoon at the Saratoga YMCA.

With the win, Amherst moves to 11-4 on the season, while the Skidmore falls to 6-3 overall.

SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS

  • Anton Zykov '17 and Michael Solimano '16 secured wins over Kai Yuen Leung and Kit Sanderson on court one and two, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-0, respectively.
  • Zach Bessette '19 downed Lucas Pickering on court four, 6-0, 6-4.
  • In number five singles Aaron Revzin '16 walked away with a three-set 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win, while Ben Fife '16 added a victory over Ted Berkowitz, 6-2, 6-2 in the sixth position. 

DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS

  • Zykov and Andrew Yaraghi '16 earned the Purple & White's sole double win, defeating Sanderson and Jonah Epstein, 8-6 on court two.
