No. 8 Amherst Falls to No. 17 Tufts, 7-2

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The No. 8 Amherst College men's tennis team fell to No. 17 Tufts University, 7-2 Saturday afternoon in NESCAC action at Grand Meadows Tennis Club in Longmeadow, Mass.

With the loss, Amherst moves to 10-4 overall, 2-1 in NESCAC play, while Tufts improves to 6-2 overall, 2-0 in league play.


  • In doubles action, Aaron Revzin '16 and Michael Solimano '16 posted an 8-6 win on court number one, but Tufts was able to clinch wins from the second and third positions.


  • In singles play, Anton Zykov '17 earned Amherst's lone win with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Nik Telkexzhiev on the first court.
  • In number two singles, Solimano fell to Jay Glickman, 5-7, 7-5, 6-1, while Andrew Yaraghi '16 suffered a 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 loss to Rohan Gupte on court three.
  • Zach Bessette '19 also took his match to three sets, falling 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 to Rob Jacobson from the fifth slot.


  • Amherst returns to action Sunday, April 3 at Skidmore College.
