No. 8 Amherst Sweeps by Hope International, Chapman

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The No. 8 Amherst College men's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season with 9-0 sweeps of Hope International and Chapman during its Spring Break Trip on Monday in California.

HOPE INTERNATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • In singles action, Justin Sun '19 earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory on the first court, while Jesse Levitin '19 edged his opponent, 3-6, 6-4, 17-15 on court two.
  • Ben Birkenfeld '18 and Andrew Arnaboldi '17 picked up wins on courts three and four respectively (6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0).
  • Carlos de Bracamonte '16 added a 6-1, 6-0 win on court five, while Sam Silver '17 won by default in the sixth position.
  • In doubles, the tandem of Sun and Birkenfeld held on for an 8-5 win on court one, while Cameron Raglin '19 and Silver turned away their opponents, 8-1. Levitin and Arnaboldi won their contest by default.

CHAPMAN HIGHLIGHTS

  • Against Chapman, Anton Zykov '17 won his match 6-0, 6-3 on court one, while Andrew Yaraghi '16 added a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court two.
  • Aaron Revzin '16 added a 6-3, 6-3 win on court three, while Michael Solimano '16 posted a 6-2, 6-2 win on the fourth court.
  • Zach Bessette '19 posted a 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 5 singles action, while Ben Fife '16 rounded out play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory from the sixth position.
  • In doubles action, Yaraghi and Zykov won 8-4 on the first court, while Revzin and Solimano earned an 8-5 win on court two. In No. 3 doubles, Fife and Bessette powered to an 8-5 win.
