Amherst Cruises Past Chapman and Whittier

AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College men's tennis team defeated Chapman, 8-1, and Whittier, 9-0, to increase its winning streak to five straight dual matches.

The Jeffs (9-1) return to the court Thursday, Mar. 20 with three matches beginning at 1 p.m. ET against Glendale. They are also scheduled to face Azusa Pacific (1:30 p.m. ET) and Point Loma Nazarene (2 p.m. ET).

AMHERST 8, CHAPMAN 1
The Jeffs swept doubles action to take a commanding 3-0 lead heading into singles play. Aaron Revzin '16 and Michael Solimano '16 picked up an 8-4 win from the No. 1 court. Andrew Yaraghi '16 and Myles Tang '17 won on the No. 2 court (8-6), and Carlos de Bracomonte '16 and Russell Einbinder '16 claimed the No. 3 spot (8-3).

In singles play, Solimano added another win from the top position (6-1, 6-3), Yaraghi claimed the No. 2 court (6-2, 6-2) and Revzin edged his opponent in No. 3 singles (6-4, 7-5). At the bottom of the lineup, de Bracamonte '16 won on the five court with scores of 6-2, 6-3 and Philip Qu '16 took a 6-1, 6-2 win from the No. 6 spot.

The Jeffs cruised to a 9-0 sweep of the Poets later in the day to improve to 9-1 in dual matches. Joey Fritz '14 and Justin Reindel '14 took an 8-4 win on the No. 1 court in doubles play. Chris Dale '14 and Anton Zykov '17 took No. 2 doubles (8-5), and Justin Hendrix '14 and Sean Rodriguez '15 claimed the No. 3 spot (8-5).

The top of the lineup featured wins from Fritz (6-2, 6-2), Dale (6-3, 6-4) and Zykov (6-2, 6-3) on the No. 1, 2 and 3 courts, respectively. Andrew Scheiner '15 edged his opponent in No. 4 singles (6-2, 5-7 (10/7), while Rodriguez and Andrew Arnaboldi '17 closed out the bottom of the order. Rodriguez won on the No. 5 court, 7-5, 6-2, and Arnaboldi cruised to wins of 6-0, 6-3.
