Men’s Swim & Dive Marks Two Top-16 Performances on Day Three

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Eric Wong '20, Ang Li '21, Tristan So '21, and Charles Seltzer '19 finished eighth in the 800-yard freestyle relay to receive All-American selection and lead the Amherst men's swimming and diving team on the third day of the 2019 NCAA Championship at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Wong, Li, So, and Seltzer were the lone Mammoths to make it into the top-eight on day three when they posted a time of 6:40.32. Sean Mebust '20 was the second Mammoth to make it to the 6:00 PM competition when he recorded a time of 55.55 in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing 15th for an honorable All-American nod.

The final Amherst competitors on the day came in the 100-yard backstroke. Craig Smith '20 and Li landed outside of the top-16 cut when they took on the field of 34 swimmers, finishing in 22nd and 27th respectively. Smith swam his first leg in 23.92 seconds and finished with a time of 50.03 while Li capped off the Mammoths appearances with a 50.57 mark.

Amherst dropped two spots through their events on day three, moving to 11th place with a score of 96 while Denison jumped over 200 points to take the lead with 426.50. Prelims of the final day of this year's national championship will commence at 10:00 AM while the finals start at 6:00 PM. Here are tomorrow's events:
