CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Tom Amsbry '22 and Bennett Fagan '20 secured two of the top-three spots for the Amherst men's swimming and diving team in the 3-meter diving event at the 2019 NCAA Division III Regional 3 Diving Championships in the Al '51 & Barrie Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center.
The Mammoths, who are coming off of a third place finish in the 2019 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships, notched second and third place overall. Amsbry posted an impressive 526.75 mark to lead Amherst on the day while Fagan followed close behind after receiving third with a final score of 519.60. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) first-year Jay Lang was the top-finisher on the day with a score of 562.55.
Engineer Samuel Solomon claimed fifth while Springfield College slid into the top-five with Connor Pennington falling six points behind Fagan with a 513.80 mark.
The Mammoths will compete on the 1-meter board tomorrow to finalize the regional championships before national qualifiers are announced in the coming days. Here is the complete schedule for tomorrow:
