HADLEY, Mass. – Amherst men's swimming and diving student-athlete Scott Romeyn '22 earned New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Performer of the Week after his performance in the Mammoths 190-99 win against Connecticut College over the weekend, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
In the first event of the day for the men's side, Romeyn played a vital part of the winning 200 yard medley relay team which set a new pool record with a time of 1:33.00. He contributed a freestyle split of 20.14, helping to defeat the previous record of 1:33.08 from 2017. Romeyn also led off the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.20), contributing a split of 21.00.
Romeyn recorded individual wins in the 50 freestyle after he secured a time of 20.85, defeating his closest opponent by 0.52 seconds. In the 18th event, Romeyn was able to grab his last victory on the day when he marked a time of 46.24 in the 100 freestyle.
Prior to their meet with Connecticut College, Romeyn recorded another first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 20.99 against Williams in their narrow 123-114 victory. Romeyn also helped secure first place in the 400 yard medley relay (3:22.69).
Romeyn is the first men's swimming and diving athlete to notch this accolade this season and has played an integral component to the Mammoths undefeated record so far this season.
