Men's Swimming & Diving Places 20th Overall at NCAA Championships

SHENANDOAH, Texas – The Purple & White finished strong to power to 35.5 total points at the four-day national meet, as the Amherst College men's swimming & diving team recorded a 20th place finish at the 52 team 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships at the CISD Natatorium.

Emory won the team national crown with 438 total points, followed by Kenyon (384) and Denison (371).

DAY FOUR HIGHLIGHTS

  • First-year Sean Mebust highlighted the day for the Purple & White, notching 12th overall in the 200-yard breaststroke. In the preliminaries, Mebust clocked a time 2:02.42 to place 14th in the 27-competitor race and earn a spot in the consolation finals. In his second race of the day, Mebust improved upon his time to record a 2:01.96 mark and secure 12th overall.
  • In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the quartet of Jack Koravos '20, Charlie Seltzer '19, Eric Wong '20 and Alex Dreisbach '17 took 15th overall, touching the wall in 3:02.74 to add four points to Amherst's score. First off the block, Koravos posted a time of 46.04, while Seltzer and Wong logged marks of 45.67 and 45.65, respectively. Dreisbach anchored the event with a 100-yard time of 45.36.
  • Wong placed 22nd overall in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:35.33 in the longest distance event of the meet.
