WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Amherst junior diver Asher Lichtig won the 1-meter diving event, and Connor Sholtis '15 won the 100-yard freestyle, but the Jeffs fell at Williams, 156-78 in Saturday afternoon's men's swimming and diving meet in Williamstown, Mass.
With the loss, Amherst moves to 4-0 on the season.
Lichtig posted a first place score 312.67 in the 1-meter dive, and a 285.00 in the 3-meter dive to finish second for the Jeffs; while Sholtis powered to a top time of 46.87 in the 100-yard freestyle. He also added a second place mark in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.06).
Greg Han '17 added second place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.00) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.90); while Connor Haley '17 tabbed second place honors in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 9:51.17. Michael Rochford '15 also glided to second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:54.77.
Jeff Anderson '16, Sam Spurrell '18, and John Janezich '18 finished second, third and fourth in the 200-yard butterfly with respective times of 1:52.30, 1:55.83 and 1:56.04.
The 400-yard freestyle relay tandem of Tyler Hampton '15, Alex Dreisbach '17, Anderson and Sholtis capped the meet with a victory in a time of 3:08.18.
Amherst returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 31 at MIT at 5 p.m.
