MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Four swimmers posted two individual wins as the Amherst men's swimming and diving team powered past Middlebury, 203-77 in Saturday afternoon's dual meet in Middlebury, Vt.

With the win, Amherst improves to 4-0 in dual meet action.

Connor Haley '17 earned victories in the distance freestyle events, notching a time of 9:48.79 in the 1000-yard swim, and a mark of 4:45.19 in the 500-yard freestyle. Connor Sholtis '15 added victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.32) and the 100-yard freestyle (47.18), while Matt Heise '16 tabbed wins in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events with respective times of 51.90 and 1:57.02. Michael Rochford '15 added second place finishes in both backstroke events for the Jeffs.

Greg Han '17 notched victories in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.89), and the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.99), while diver Asher Lichtig '16 won both the three meter (294.53) and one-meter (267.83) diving events to round out the Purple & White's multi-event winners.

Jeff Anderson '16 glided to a time of 1:54.15 to win the 200-yard butterfly, while Sam Spurrell '18 won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.26. Anderson added a second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, while Spurrell claimed second place honors in the 200-yard butterfly.

The 200-yard medley relay tandem of Heise, Elijah Spiro '18, Tyler Hampton '15 and Sholtis posted a first place time of 1:35.00, while Rochford, Han, Spurrell and Alex Dreisbach '17 placed second with a time of 1:37.12.

The Jeffs' 400-yard freestyle relay squad of Hampton, Dreisbach, Vic Sun '16 and Sholtis cruised to top honors in the event with a time of 3:15.09.

Amherst returns to action on Saturday, January 10 at archrival Williams at 4 p.m.
